Post surgery progress report

March 15th, 2008    Posted by: ArthritisQuest

The surgery went pretty well. My neck still feels like I got punched repeatedly, and I had to get morphine for the pain while I was in the hospital, but I didn’t feel drowsy the same way as I did last time after recovery.

I’m also back in Washington now, so the progress reports are going to be spread farther apart, but more complete.

More after the break.

Weight: 201.3
Blood Pressure: During surgery it was jumping around from as low as 122/77 to 146/86. The nurses said that generally though, it was around the 125/80 range.
Diet: Wasn’t allowed to eat anything that day. Afterwards I had a burger, some asparagus, and a little crabmeat. The next day, I had a salad with egg and crabmeat for lunch (no dressing), and a personal pizza for dinner at the airport (from Nick’s Tomato Pie, not one of the chains).

I am sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with this disease and will remember you in my prayers.

I know from experience how devastating it is to hear the diagnoses, but I also know from experience you can overcome it and take control. It may need some adaption and changes, but you can do it. If you like, visit my RA-article site. It is listed in the right side bar of my main site. It gives lots of tips and tricks that might be helpful.

I will put a link on my site to yours and will check back here from time to time.

May God grant you a quick and full recovery from your surgery and strengthen you through this trial!

    God’s Grace.

I hope you get well soon. What kind of surgery you had? Neck hernia?

Herniated disk, so I had a pain management procedure. Recovery was much better than last time, when I was out for like 3 days afterwards, but apparently I was moving around and not taking the anesthesia well, and they had to give me extra morphine and extra anesthetic.
